Courtney Duncan produced an impressive display to win both WMX races in Portugal

It was a dominant weekend for the Dunlop Bike IT DRT Kawasaki team, as New Zealander Courtney Duncan won both FIM Women’s World Motocross Championship (WMX) races at Agueda, Portugal.

A strong 29 bike grid was no match for Courtney Duncan, the 23-year-old produced a brilliant display at a dry and sunny Crossdromo Internacional de Agueda.

Duncan’s dominance was evident in both races as she finished 12 seconds ahead of her nearest rival Larissa Papenmeier in race 1. In race 2 the Dunlop rider stamped her authority on the weekend finishing half a minute ahead of championship rival Nancy Van De Ven.

Scoring 50 points from this dominant weekend, Duncan moved to the top of the championship on 89 points, 4 points ahead of Van de Ven.

Dunlop MXGP Race Coordinator, Eddy Seal: “After Verstappen's win last race, to have Courtney topping the ranking shows the depth of talent in WMX and the performance of the Dunlop Geomax range.”

In MXGP, the highlight for Dunlop was a double podium finish and Fox holeshot win for Arnaud Tonus on the Monster Energy Wilvo Yamaha bike. The Swiss rider finished third in both races, finishing third overall and scoring 40 points.

The next WMX race is the GP of Czech Republic on the 27-28 July, the hard pack Loketske Serpentiny track will provide a different challenge for the WMX riders. The MXGP contingent race next week at the French GP.v
