Pirelli Tyre Tests

Examined tests has showed the distinction in performance between tyres in extreme conditions. In daily driving you almost certainly won’t notice it, but how your tyres perform in an emergency or wet conditions is once the distinction extremely counts. The tests are performed by a well-trained driver beneath controlled conditions on a closed track:

  • Overall score is calculated from wet cornering (30%), wet braking (30%), dry cornering (20%) and dry braking (20%).
  • Cornering assesses how well the tyres keep the check automobile in a set lane at speeds of 80km/h and 85km/h in dry conditions, and 75km/h and 80km/h in wet conditions. There is a tendency to use a right-hand corner with a radius of 55m. The tyres are tested doubly in differing orders.
  • Braking measures the distance it takes to return to a whole standstill in emergency braking tests from driving speeds of 50km/h and 80km/h in each dry and wet conditions.
  • Rolling resistance measures the distance it takes to roll to a stop from a beginning speed of 25km/h. This can be completed five times, and also the shortest and longest measured distances are discarded. The three remaining measured distances square measure then averaged.
  • Noise (where listed) is measured at head level whereas driving on coarse-chip seal. Wherever two measures are given, they're at 50km/h and 80km/h.
  • Price is per tyre (including fitting and balancing). the value guide is drawn from on-line prices, RRPs and quotes from tyre fitters.
